At Bay Haven Ceramics, we believe creative spaces are better when people feel safe, respected, and welcome showing up as themselves. We are committed to building a studio community where people of all backgrounds, experiences, identities, and skill levels can learn, experiment, and spend time together without fear of exclusion or judgment.

We welcome people of all places of origin, races, ethnicities, cultures, languages, religions, ages, body types, abilities, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, socioeconomic backgrounds, and levels of experience with clay. Whether you’ve been making pottery for twenty years or you’re touching clay for the first time, you belong here.

Respect for others is a core expectation of participating in this space. Discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or any behavior that makes others feel unsafe or unwelcome will not be tolerated. This includes comments or conduct related to identity, appearance, disability, culture, politics, religion, sexuality, or personal background.

We also recognize that community spaces involve real people with different communication styles, experiences, and perspectives. In many situations, we believe issues can be addressed through conversation, accountability, and a willingness to listen and adjust behavior. If concerns arise, we will generally try to start there first.

At the same time, Bay Haven reserves the right to step in when behavior is disruptive, harmful, or repeatedly disrespectful. Depending on the situation, this may include a private conversation, a verbal or written warning, temporary suspension from classes or studio access, removal from an event, or termination of membership or participation without refund. Serious incidents involving harassment, threats, hate speech, discrimination, intimidation, retaliation, or conduct that compromises the safety or wellbeing of others may result in immediate removal from the space.

We ask everyone who uses the studio to approach one another with curiosity, patience, and generosity. Pottery is communal by nature. People share wheels, kilns, sinks, tables, tools, ideas, and time. We want Bay Haven to feel like a place where people can focus on making things, learning from each other, and being part of a creative community grounded in mutual respect.
